If the buzz from Tollywood scuttlebutt machinery is to be believed, Superstar Mahesh Babu’s upcoming film, Aagadu is a rip off of Bollywood film, Special 26 (Special Chabbis) starring Akshay Kumar and Kajal Agarwal. The film is actually inspired by a real-life incident of 1987 where a group posing as CBI officers executed an income tax raid on the Opera House branch of TBZ Jewelers in Mumbai. It is said that Vaitla made minor changes to the script and added his mark comedy.
Aagadu is currently being shot in Ladakh where a song is being shot. Most of the talkie part of the film is complete and songs are left to be canned. The makers are planning to release the film on September 23rd to cash the Dussehra holidays. The movie is very special for the music director Thaman as it is his 50th movie. Anil Sunkara, Gopichand and Ram Achanta are producing the film under 14 Reels Entertainments banner.
