Illayathalapathi Vijay is a demigod in Kollywood and yet to prove his mettle in Tollywood. His last venture Tuppaki (Tamil version) was the biggest hit last year and joined the 100 crore club and did a decent business in T-town as well. A L Vijay who directed his last two films with Chiyan Vikaram (Nanna and Thandavam) joined Illayathalapathi. Lets see whether this combination succeeded or not
Viswa (Vijay) is an aspirant dancer in Australia and his aim is to win the grand dancing competition. He owns a mineral plant. Viswa gets an offer from an restaurant owner (Suresh). In the process, Viswa falls in love with Suresh’s daughter and Viswa lands into India to take acceptance from his father Rammurthy (Satyaraj). Scarce situations welcomes Viswa to motherland. Viswa learns his father is a people leader and in no time he get into his father shoes and support his people. Why Viswa moved to Australia? What are reasons are Rammurthy to become a leader forms the rest of story.
Vijay is just brilliant. This would be Vijay’s one of the best performance so far. His casual acts like a trendy dancer and spirited leader is a treat to watch. Vijay has been going through the transformation phase from a star to an actor. This could be one of the role to be remembered in his career.
Amala Paul is as usual. There is no ample scope for her to perform. Satyaraj is apt. Santhanam brings up few smiles. Nasser, Abimanyu Singh are Okay.
- Vijay’s Performance, Dances
- Frozen tale
- Weak Screen Play
- Outdated direction
This is yet another story where the common man grows up to the leader chair. Tollywood has tasted his kind of stories a dozen in a while. Anna is not a regular entertainer, it starts on slow pace and continues the same till end. As Tollywood bigges delayed their release due to political turmoil in the state, leaves scope to this flick to gain a decent openings. However, time says how it fares in the coming days at box office. T-town is very generous to welcome leader likes ANNA in the past. However, this time Vijay’s Anna is not par with acceptance levels. Vijay got to wait for some more time to taste his success in Tollywood.
Bottom Line: Fails to impress Telugu Thammullu
