Potugadu Review | Potugadu Telugu Movie Review | Manchu Manoj Potugadu Review
Star cast: Manoj Manchu, Posani, Sakshi Chowdhary, Simran Kaur Mundi, Rachel and Anupriya
Censor Certificate: A
Runtime: 125 Minutes
Director: Pawan Wadeyar
Music Director: Achu and Chakri
Story: Govind (Manchu Manoj) and Software professional Venkat (Posani) meet at a suicide point. The Software professional tells Govind why he is trying to end his life and asks Govind, who is at the same spot aiming to leap off, for his story. Govind tells his story in flashback about how he cheated on three girls and he rejected by one. How these two console each other and give up their idea of suicide forms the rest of the crux of the story.
Performances: Manchu Manoji’s decent in performance as Govind. His histrionics and mannerisms remind us of his previous films. He should have worked hard on his performance than intervening in the Technical department. Anu Priya is simply superb on the screen. Rachel and Simran are okay in their small roles and provided much needed masala in the songs Bujji Pilla, Super Figure. Sakshi is lively as a Muslim girl. Ali is fine in his forced cameo.
Technicalities: Story of the movie is about life of two youngsters who are dejected in life after their unsuccessful romance with their girlfriends. Direction by Pawan Wadeyar is good in parts, but he should have taken extra care on narrating the second half climax. The characterization of Posani is good. Pawan Wadeyar has shown promise in the first half, but he could not continue the same element in the second half. Especially last 30 minutes of the film is a downer.
Music by Achu and Chakri is very good; Pyaar Mein Padipoya and Devatha are canned well on screen. Dialogues are promising in parts, esp. Nenu current lenni appudu chesevi meeku current affairs avuthayi ra,Nee mundu Mandu chusi Picnic ki vachav anukunna Panic ayyi vachav anukoledhu etc.
Cinematography by Srikanth is nice; Editing by M R Varma is adequate. Fights are lengthy. Production Values of Rama Lakshmi Cine Creations are good.
Analysis: Potugadu is a commercial film, loaded with Love, Romance and Troubles in Love. Manoj – Posani and songs lift the film to some degree but on the whole it failed to provide entertainment needed to take the movie to the comfort zone at box office.
