Several fingers are being pointed at the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who was also present at the event.
It came to light that sub-inspector Sampa Haldar was seen dancing to a popular number from the Khan-starrer Jab Tak Hai Jaan. This was watched by team of police officers at Jai Ho, the Kolkata Police’s annual cultural program at the Netaji Indoor Stadium, Kolkata.
Opposition commented that the constitution doesn’t allow any person to dance in uniform and that its a shame and insult to the the sanctity of police uniform and also blatant violation of uniform rules.
A BJP leader in fact went to the extent of saying entry of Mamta Banerjee into politics was a big mistake!
This being said, do you, our esteemed Cinetara readers feel this a crime, a violation of law and/or constitution? It is a pity we cant be sport and getting too much into unwanted petty issues. Maybe the opposition should answer if committing crimes by is allowed? There are many crimes whose leads point to a cop in uniform. May be time we wake and change the attitude. While we have no problems watching adult actresses dance, and heroes dancing in police uniforms, how can our eyes view it as wrong in real?
