Early 2013 Kamal Haasan’s Viswaroopam got into trouble as some religious Muslim groups claimed that it is hurting their religious sentiments. Now the sequel in final stages of the shoot and is expected to hit screens in November. Now Jawahar Ali, the head of Tamilnadu Muslim league stated in an interview, “We are disappointed to learn that Vishwaroopam 2 has scenes that portray Muslims as terrorists and also has scenes that hurt the religious sentiments of Muslims. Kamal Haasan portraying Muslims in bad light in his movies, and later trying to promote his product claiming that it is freedom of expression, is not a good thing to do as an artist. People should stop making movies that hurt others. The directors of Dam 999 and Madras Café should understand that their movie was banned in Tamilnadu due to the same reasons. Thereby, we request Kamal Haasan to make sure he does not include scenes that hurt our sentiments in his upcoming movie.” We need to wait and see how Kamal Haasan will react to this situation.
