Started his career as a Zero with absolutely no backing and rising to the place of a Megastar is a phenomenal achievement but Chiru did it effortlessly. In the career spanning over 25 years, he acted in 149 films which contains social films like Rudraveena, Apathbhandhavudu, Pasivadi Pranam, Swayam Krishi and mass masalas like Alluda Majaka, Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, Gang Leader etc. Today a tribe of actors from his family made their way in to Tollywood just with his name and fame as foundation. In order give back something to the audience who elevated him to such status, he started Chiranjeevi Charitable trust and blood bank to serve people and is effectively running them till date without any profit motive. The Indian Government awarded him the most coveted and the highest civilian award of the nation, Padma Bhushan in 2006. In the same year, Andhra University presented him an honorary doctorate.
Everything went well till 2008; the actor forayed in to politics that year by starting Praja Rajyam Party. The party just managed 18 MLA seats in the subsequent elections and finally he merged the party in to the ruling congress. There are several speculations about his possible 150th movie. The actor who is currently Union Tourism Minister, gave different statements regarding doing the milestone movie.
